NOTHING TO FEAR ABOUT THE REVOLUTION
- Nonilon V.Queano/13July2014/New York City

There should be no worry about the goals of the revolution:
Freedom, justice, peace
And, thus, happiness and a bountiful life for all,
And honest and true love.

Uncomplicated, too, what needs be done
To fulfill them:
Distributing equally and reasonably
The wealth of the world,
Harmonizing all hopes of living freely and in peace.

There should not have been any fear:
Even at first glance and on cursory reckoning,
It is clear that nature's riches are more than enough
To meet the needs of every human being on earth --
Considering breadth, depth, height, thickness, size
Of the earth, seas, mountains, forests,
In the diurnal rotations of things;
Never will run out
Nature's supply of food, water,
And even provisions available for the luxurious indulgences
Of every creature
Anywhere, at any time.

And yet questions fly about continuously.
Let us grant
That there was one who thought ahead of everyone else
Of how to collect, cook and eat, utilize, play
With every item that nature has given;
Grant that someone discovered before everyone else did,
Some new place or some new method
Of putting to full harness, nature's resources
To serve mankind,
Including those showered from above
By Him we call God,
Who, we hope, truly exists in all things in the sky, on earth,
And in every creature that He created;
Let us grant that every man or woman is different:
In color, shape, intelligence, talent, form, language,
Parent, ancestry,
Place where one grew up
Time, when existed.

Still, that should give no reason for anyone
To outdo or exploit the other,
No reason to compete with everyone;
No reason to make war.
Weren't there, indeed, not a few times in history
When, like little children waking to the dawn,
We also dreamt truly
Of unity and selflessness.
Stamping our footprints, too,
Upon the dew that gathered
At daybreak.

Now, how is it that,
Instead of love,
Or sharing of what was collected and found,
Or offering to serve,
Or building trust, cooperation,
And hoping that all, at the same time,
Would truly live with one another
Happily.

How is it that, instead, reign greed,
Envy, violence, exploitation,
Oppression, madness,
Alienation, loneliness,
Bloodthirsty aggression
Fear sown by the may-lightning-strike -them
High and mighty;
Treachery;
Evil intentions;
Mindless and unending killings
Of children, the weak, the innocent, the poor and wretched,
By the most evil, greedy, heartless scoundrels,
Playing like kings and rulers
And exploding scenes
Of bloody unimaginable suffering and poverty;
Gory wars of conquest
Brought upon those too weak to fight back,
Those whose only wish all throughout
Was for peace and quiet lives,
Warm days and nights
Caressed by the gentle hum of wind and rain,
The haunting melodies of a song,
Poem, beauty,
Playing everyday to lives that are forever free.

There is nothing to fear about the revolution.
Like that of the ordinary dreams
Of ordinary men and women
In a wondrous world,
A dream of harmony and peace and sharing,
Of hearts honest and pure,
Loves that are true and constant;
Of a day when no one among the oppressed and dispossessed,
Would ever fall and die or be sacrificed
In wars brought about by madness
And the greed of men,
A dream of a good life in freedom.
Hanggang kalayaan!

FILIPINO VERSION:

(WALANG SUKAT IKABAHALA SA REBOLUSYON
-- Nonilon V. Queano/13July2014/New York City

At pagmamahal.

At di mauubos kailanman
Ang pagkukunan ng pamatid gutom, uhaw,
Pati na nga luho
Ng bawa't nilalang
Saanman at kailanman.

Dangan't mga tanong ay nagsasalimbayan.
Sabihin nang may naunang makaisip
Kung paano likumin, iluto't kainin, gamitin, paglaruan
Bawa't biyayang dulot ng kalikasan;
Sabihin nang may nakaunang tumuklas
Sa mga lugal at pamamaraan,
Kung paano mapagsilbing-lubos ng tao
Ang lahat ng yamang likas,
Pati na biyayang isinabog para sa lahat
Ng sana nga ay nasa-langit-nasa-lupa-
Nasa-lahat-ng-kanyang-ginawang
Maykapal;
Magulang, ninuno
Kapaligirang pinaglakhan,
Panahong kinabuhayan,

Hindi rason yaon upang magpataasan ng ihi
At maglaban-laban.
At maraming panahon't buong kasaysayang,
Tila mga musmos sa bukangliwayway,
Tayong nag-asam ring tunay

Katapatan, pagtutulungan, at pagsisikap
Upang lahat ay makapamuhay nang masaya
At tama, sabay-sabay,

Paano nangyari na ang nanalasa ay kasakiman,
Pag-iimbot, dahas, pagsasamantala,
Kawalang-asal, pang-aapi, kawalang-katinuan,
Pag-iisa, kalungkutan,
Hayok-sa-dugo't walang patumanggang
Pagtatakssil;
Naghari-harian at nagpasabog
